Saul Millan (b.1994) is a Composer, Multi Instrumentalist and Artist from the Bordertown of Ambos Nogales. With attention to site specific performances, Millan's improvisation driven works create spaces of reflection for performers and audiences alike. Creating at the intersection of sound, installation, assemblage and print media, Saul explores contemporary music culture, nationalism, humor, language and colonization; Themes that have shaped our collective aural memory. Currently investigating concepts found in music composition, Saul utilizes the Hip Hop/electronic music technique of "Sampling" - (the process of taking a piece of audio and reworking it as part of a new composition)- as the framework in creating his visual works. Often using trash as material for assemblage, Readymade sculpture and collage, Millan "Samples" his surroundings and explores the decontextualization of
the object/image and its infinite possibilities.
